It was a beautiful morning and Gabby was in the mood to hit the gym. When she arrived at the gym, she is pumped to try to have a good workout and as she is working out, she is feeling good and feeling like she is making a lot of progress. Gabby is very negative about her body and is not a big fan of it, her goal is to be satisfied with what she sees, and lately she has not been. After, she hits the locker room to clean up and as she passes the mirror, she pauses; she stares and her mood begins to change. “I don’t see much change”. Why is nothing working? A negative body image gives a person a lot of stress, discomfort, shame and anxiety and having a negative attitude can definitely lead to all of those things. Comparing yourself to others and wishing to look like other people, can lead to similar things as well. Having a positive body image is being happy with the person in your own skin and having a true understanding of yourself. You should never talk down on yourself, it does nothing but create more problems causing you to have a negative body image. If you are unhappy with your body, things will be negative and if you are proud of the body you are in, hopefully things within your life will be positive. For the future, I hope obesity, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and so many more mental health issues begin to decrease. I know that those things are not all caused by having a negative body image, but if they were to start decreasing, then something would finally be changing and there would be more people proud of their bodies in this world. We should always accept and love the skin we live
