Introduction The world’s most successful organizations, institutions, and governments relied greatly on the ability of its central body to take care of their constituents, with some even saying that good governance is the “single most important factor in eradicating poverty and promoting development”. (Annan, 2012). Governance is defined to be the dynamic interaction between people, structures, processes and traditions; the act of good governance is composed of pillars, namely legitimacy, participation (or engagement), responsible stewardship, ethical conduct, transparency, predictability, and accountability (Gil, 2009). With this in mind, our group has determined that while good governance is a necessity for all governing bodies, not a lot of people are aware of what good governance entails and its effects on them. For the Philippines in particular, the national government has decided to challenge local communities to improve their services by establishing the “Seal of Good Local Governance” (SGLG).
