Immigration isn't just about moving to a new place, it can represent something different to each and every person. Freedom, salvation, religion, jobs, family. Whatever the reason, people immigrate to make their lives better. To make a new life for themselves, a fresh start even. America has been a symbol of freedom to many. People in other countries who are in bad situations can see the happiness america has brought to other immigrants and help others take the leap of faith to leave everything behind and start anew. Immigration is a solution to the many problems people face in other countries who aren't as fortunate as we may be, living in America. The most significant immigration most Americans think of is when the puritans first came to America for religious freedom. ¨When they came ashore they would use their own liberty, for none had the power to command them¨ (Of Plymouth Plantation).
