What is tragedy? According to Aristotle, “Tragedy is the downfall of a noble hero or heroine.” I believe this means this person isn't perfect, but determined, in the face of this, they fail. Reflecting on one of the two stories I read, “Oedipus the King” is about how Oedipus has sent his brother Creon, to go on a mission to the oracle, then Creon is sent back having to question who killed Laius. Throughout the questioning and all the persecution, they come to realize it was the king himself who had killed Laius. The second story was called “ Death of a Salesman” by Arthur MIller. He didn't really capture my attention of being the more tragic figure.I find oedipus to be more dramatic than Willy in many ways, with his body language and speech. An example for Aristotle's story “Oedipus the King:’’ Oedipus sent his brother in law, Creon to find out how to end the plague. Creon then came back with bad news about Laius and how someone had killed Laius. After questioning everyone it was proven that it was the king, Oedipus, himself who has killed Laius. Oedipus was the King of Thebes and he was just trying to find a way to stop the plague, yet he fell upon the tragic news of the death of Laius. Oedipus, as soon as he found out about the death of Laius was determined to find out who murdered Laius. Eventually, Oedipus did find out who killed Laius after accusing multiple people and having a discussion with the rest of the people of the chorus. He found out that it was he himself who had killed Laius, after all the characters had been through. I find it hard to relate to Oedipus’ character because I am not attracted to my mother , nor father unlike Oedipus was. I also cannot relate with the fact that Oedipus killed Laius over a small
