The victim of this case was 85 year old Anna Brackett. Anna Brackett was an 85 year old lady who was a retired seamstress and a great-grandmother. Brackett happened to open her door at the wrong time. It was June 14, 1983, when Brackett had been waiting for her son to visit her around 6pm and heard a knock on her door. The knock on the door came from two teenagers who explained to Brackett that they had been being followed by strange men and needed somewhere to hide and use the phone. After letting the two teenage girls inside and talking to them for over an hour, she would then be murdered by the two teens. This all happened in the process of waiting for her son to visit. These girls had just barely met each other the day of the murder. They have only met each other for 8 hours, and on that same day they decided to run away together and eventually end up at Bracketts condo, where they brutally stabbed, beat, strangled, and murdered Brackett. After Murdering Brackett, the two girls would then go back to Cindy's house to sleep. The two girls would then be captured that night at Cindy's house in Auburn and will then be ultimately convicted after the girls explained and confessed to the police that they had definitely murdered Mrs. Brackett. Many people were affected by the murder and everyone was shocked. The murder was the most shocking thing to the people, the people were more shocked about what the girls said after the murder. In the article “Little Girl Lost” it says, “One of the most shocking aspects of the crime were the words that Wolf wrote in her diary after they’d committed the murder: “Today, Cindy and I ran away and killed an old lady. It was lots of fun.” This quote from the article shows how Wolf wrote in her diary that she thought that running away and murdering an elderly lady was fun to her.
