Being prejudged, and stereotyped is becoming the norm in today’s society for African American males. Whether you succeed or not black males will always be seen as the underdog. Because of the following lack of education, fatherless homes, belligerent, Lazy, and incarceration, and police brutality, but the list goes on. African Americans make up 13% of the population. Studies show that 40% of African American men are incarcerated but half of them are innocent. All African Americans aren’t the same just like any other race. African Americans lead the most in criminal charges, unemployment, and poverty. Because of such a bad reputation African American males will most likely always be falsely accused. According to Tavis Smileys, “Outcomes for Young Black Men” in 2007 “6.2 million African American males were high school dropouts” …show more content…

Many were beaten, and battered some were even killed because of ones lie. This is still very frequent today’s society. For example, the recent movie that just came out “Fist Fight”. Voxatl says where the protagonist which is Ice Cube who portrays an angry hostile black man who instigates a fight whereas the man he’s fighting is naive and white. Also, the movie “Get Hard” is another prime example on how we see black men. The movie shows black men helping a white man prepare for prison. Which brings us back to the main topic of black men going to prison. A Black Scholar did an Article on the late James Baldwin that quoted this “I think for one thing, the breakup of the black family unit, which is tragic and one of the reasons that so many boys and girls are on the needle; why so many of us have been lost.” To me this state we need each other to get through in this society. This society is just so against black males
