As someone who has been on Vision since my Freshman year of high school, I am so excited to be trying out for leadership! Vision means a lot to me because I have grown so much as a person, made lifelong friends, and learned what it really means to be part of a group. I know that my experience here has been largely shaped by my student leaders, which is why I would love the opportunity to serve VHS Band in this capacity. I feel I would be a strong choice for Dance Captain because I am a good mediator, an experienced leader, and friendly and outgoing. Though most of the girls on Vision get along fairly well, there are of course times when conflict arises between members. When conflict is pre existing, I feel that I am skilled at reasoning with both sides in order to come to a pleasing resolution. When there is drama on the team, it can sometimes be easy to get pulled in, but as someone who thrives off a calm environment, this has never really been my thing. I much prefer remaining neutral in these conflicts so that I can help quickly resolve any issue rather than adding fuel to the fire, there’s no need to be fighting on late night bus rides. In an environment as high-stakes as Vision, I think it is greatly helpful if new student leaders have at least some prior leadership experience. I have been fortunate enough to have been selected to serve in various leadership roles over the past few years. Within my church youth choir, I have been able to serve as both an underclassmen representative and as missions chair. I feel both these roles have given me some idea of what it’s like to be seen as a role model for a larger group. My youth choir has members ranging from middle school to 12th
