Not having any experience in the class, and not knowing exactly what it is like, I feel reluctant to put forth any major suggestions. One of my few complaints about the Freshman Student Council is throughout the year there have only been a handful of leadership and service opportunities.
I have led many club activities such as concession stands, volunteer services, and other community led activities. My ultimate endeavor since attending community college has been my involvement in school, specifically with Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. As an engineering major I am limited to a diminutive amount of free time, due to the quantity and difficulty of my classes. However, this limitation and the fact that my ride to school is a two hour trip on public transportation, has not stopped me from participating in extracurricular activities. I have served in leadership roles as National Honor Society Vice President, Mu Alpha Theta First Vice President, and a Student Leadership Member. I have also traveled to the Texas State Capitol to learn about leadership, government, and the history of Texas from Texas State Representative Cecil Bell Jr.. Furthermore, I have coordinated a banquet and organized a school assembly which registered voting age seniors to vote in the US Presidential Election, and will now serve as an example for other schools in the region. Are you happy being stuck in high school for 4 years. No your not happy with staying in high school for 4 years. Should they rethink how long students should be in high school? Yes because high is too long, too much pressure to be prefect and also if high school wasn’t as long then you could finish college at a younger age. Why is high school too long you ask?
Student Council serves as the voice for the students. They promote a sense of engagement between the student body and the school itself while providing a deeper connection besides academics in which the students can participate in. I strongly believe Student Council is the backbone for a properly functioning school as they are the intermediary for the students and the administration. This kind of responsibility and position for change is definitely something I want to commit to. I believe my creativity, hardworking, and people skills will help me excel in any task I am assigned, while contributing valuable ideas and outlooks to the Council as a whole.
