Democracy vs. Dictatorship Everyday life is dramatically different depending on whether one resides in a democracy or under a dictatorship. Dictatorship and democracy represent different perspectives and their panorama has different effects on people’s lives. Thus democracy and dictatorship have their respective advantages and disadvantages. Both forms of the government can prove to be beneficial depending on what strategies are adopted by them to tackle the problem of their citizens. It gives them a feeling of importance and sense of responsibility. In democracy, members are elected by the votes casted by the people, so it is less liable to revolution than dictatorship. In addition to this, a democratic government usually guarantees freedom of thought and speech. Democracy thus offers the most favorable atmosphere for the human personality. People who live in a democratic state have civil liberties and political rights. Freedom, accountability and equality are practiced in it. People can criticize and dismiss the government according to their will. In England, sir Winston Churchill won the second world war and became the war-time hero. But after the war, his government was dismissed. No discriminations are made on the basis of caste color and creed in a democratic state. Democracy is best suited for a country in peace times. Cooperation is its basic principle. But democracy has its danger. The greatest of which is that it may be the rule of ignorance. Citizens who are not sufficiently intelligent or educated are commit errors in the casting of votes. Elections are usually a matter of propaganda.
