The Purpose of Determination Success rarely results from talent alone, but from determination. Determination means a strong decision about a person’s passion that he or she will never give up no matter what happens. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defined determination as “the act of deciding definitely and firmly.” Moreover, the subject, determination, can lead people and prevent them from wavering. It also can pull people back on track who momentarily become dazzled by temptation. Determination will help her to choose the correct decision in the future. Temptations try to pull people always from their decision, but determination helps people to not be shaken and keep people in the right path to success. Three months ago, I attended a tennis tournament, but I was too nervous that I even forgot how to hold my racket, and obviously I was the last place. After the tournament my heart felt uncomfortable every time I stand on the tennis court, I thought about to stop playing it, but my determination has kept me in, and now I am fully prepared to win the game. If it was not my determination I would have stopped my favorite sport just because of a small failing and regret about it for my whole life, but my determination helped me to make to the right decision. Moreover, one of my friends Kayla determined to read the Bible everyday and meditates on it from an early age, and when she was 10th grade she went to Spain as an exchange student. In Spain, Kayla had a crush on one boy, but when she meditates on God words she realizes God did not want Kayla to be with that boy. So, Kayla pushed down her feeling and gave up her crush, and now Kayla are glad that she gave up her crush, because she realizes she would have been hurt if she has a relationship with her crush.
