Overview:
Allergy to dust mites, pets is an allergic reaction to tiny insects and the pet animals that commonly live in every home. Signs of allergy dust mites are those common to hay fever such as sneezing and runny nose. Many people with allergies to dust mites develop signs of asthma, such as wheezing and various respiratory difficulties. Dust mites are similar to a spider, but are too small to be seen without a microscope. Dust mites eat skin cells, and thrive in warm, moist environments. In most homes, bedding, upholstered furniture and carpets provide an ideal environment for dust mites.
Causes:
Allergies occur when the immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen, bee venom or pet dander. The immune system produces proteins known as antibodies. These antibodies protect against unwanted invaders that might cause disease or infection. In allergy, the immune system produces antibodies that identify the particular allergen as something harmful, even if it is not. Saliva can cling to carpets, bedding, furniture and clothing. Saliva dry can become airborne.
Rodents and rodent:
Animals include mice, gerbils, hamsters and guinea pigs. Allergens from rodents are usually present in the hair, dander, saliva and urine. Dust litter or sawdust on the bottom of the cages can help create airborne allergens from rodents. The allergens are present in rabbit hair, hair and saliva.
Other animals:
Allergy to animals it is rarely caused by animals that do not have fur.
