In Anthem, a book, written by Russian author, Ayn Rand, everyone has one rule, to be the same: To be one, as a whole. If they choose to disobey that rule, they are punished, and our main character, Equality 7-2521 did just that. Throughout the book, Equality 7-2521 discovers new things, which others do not know about, such as electricity. Equality 7-2521 also works on a new invention of his that no one has ever done, because it is forbidden. Another thing that Equality 7-2521 realizes, is that being the same does not add happiness, and appears to be very boring, and selfish of the Council of Vocations, the leaders and elders of the society, where our main character lives in. Equality 7-2521 dislikes the rules and orders, of his society, and his life as a Street Sweeper, a job that the Council of Vocations, chose for him. The Council of Vocations, a group made up of five, three males, and the other two, females. He knows how to make his food, while he was hunting for his own food. Liberty 5-3000, a woman that Equality 7-2521 has feelings for, follows him into the forest. Together, the two discover a two story house that has never been told by the society, in other words, hidden. The two characters find a mirror, and now know what they look like, and are surprised when they found a bookshelf, covered in interesting books. After finding this house, Equality 7-2521 and Liberty 5-3000 have decided to stay in their new surroundings. Equality 7-2521 discovers another new thing, freedom.
