“ Have gender roles really changed in the South” is a question that many people still ask themselves today. The gender roles have really changed in the south, but not as much as it has changed in the large culture of the United States. The roles have not been drastically changed for women in the south, but they have been updated on things women can do and wear. For instance, a traditional role of women use to be clean cook and take care of the house, but now for most women they can have a career and their husband can be a stay at home dad. I as a woman of the south believe roles have changed, but not as much as they have changed in the large culture of the United States.

One thing that has definitely changed around the South is the way we dress and what comes off feminist and manly. During the earlier centuries it was weird seeing women in pants, but now everyone wears pants and isn't that big of a controversy. The gender roles have not changed on clothing as much as people think in the South. If a man decides to go out and wear a short many skirt, that would be frowned upon by many people not just in the South. He would not only be judged for the skirt, but it would be to short which everyone is judged for how short the length of their clothes our and the tightness. Women are judged a lot on clothes length like, a girl in school cannot wear a tank top that is not three finger length. Even though a boy can wear whatever tank top they want, which shows girls can be sexualized at a young age but males are not ashamed of what they wear.
