For this assignment I have chosen three possible social issues to be the center of discussion for this assignment. The first social issue I am considering is the question, is gun control the answer to solving gun violence and lowering acts of crime? I have always been aware of this social issue because of recent events involving gun violence and also that I have family members that are gun owners and I know many people that are responsible gun owners. Recently this issue has received a heighten amount of attention due to recent tragic events and I could not help but notice the debate between those who believe gun control is solution and those who believe this solution will not bot effective or that the issue is not about guns in the first place. I am considering this topic because of the recent attention is has been receiving and also because of the large amount of debate surrounding it. I think this is an important question because of what this social issue represents. It represents the questions of is it socially acceptable or legal to protest while in uniform? Should sports and politics be mixed? Is it the athletes’ right to peacefully protest and express their freedom of speech? If I choose this social issue for this assignment I would focus my research on similar events that may have occurred, on how this is viewed by the majority of Americans, and if there are any negative or positive results that come from this type of protesting. Based on the evidence from my research I will give my opinion as to what the solution should
