The article “Gun Control Laws” (2016) emphasizes the point that the United States views on gun control vary from person to person. For example, supporters of the stricter gun control laws believe that by enforcing stronger gun control laws throughout the nation it will decrease the amount of gun violence. In addition to stricter gun laws, supporters believe that the United States needs to make it more difficult to obtain a gun. However, opponents of the gun control laws, that believe the federal government is abusing their power, think that guns are the only way to stop other guns. Furthermore, opponents believe that limiting Americans ability to purchase a firearm is taking away their second amendment.
Another reason I do not agree that the government should endorse stricter gun control measures is because I do not believe the gun in itself is the real issue. The real issue behind all the crimes and violence associated with guns is the owner of the gun. Results from multiple surveys stated that citizens of the U.S own around 300 million firearms. When asking those owners what they use their gun for, 67% said self-defense, 66% said hunting, and 41% said target shooting. A study showed that in 2000 guns were used for self-defense roughly 100,000 times a year.
While people are arguing that having firearms is a good choice for their own security, others argue that a gun control can be dangerous. So, individuals should not be allowed to own guns because in some cases it can result in a deplorable situation. In addition , The United States of America is one of the most dangerous related about gun control, recent reports had shown that there are 88 guns for every 100 people living there without adding the arms of the black market. They do not have an effective firearm tracker method to make sure that the weapons do not reach with dangerous hands.
