After America was discovered it became an opportunity for money and power. An abundance of European nations had ventured to explore and establish this land. These countries fought for control over North America for a very large amount of time. Despite England being one of the last countries to colonize there, they had become the dominant force in the North American Colonies.The British succeeded in taking over the colonies against other nations because of their suppression of the Native Americans, colonization of the land, and the victory of the French and Indian War America was not empty when the Europeans discovered this land. They were both striving to take complete control over the Northern land and realized they were going to have to fight to get there. Both nations knew that part of the battle would be determined in part, by which group could best win the allegiance of the native tribes. The French held more tolerance with Native American customs and adjusted better to their behavior and terms.However because of the British’s economic and agricultural success in the Americas, they could offer the indians better and more plentiful goods. The Indian nations initally allied with the British, rather than the french. They lived in proximity of one another with uneasiness, but no major conflicts. Until wars in Europe generated significant clashes between the Indians, the French and the British in America. These clashes started the French and Indian war. Due to the British’s loss of battles at the beginning of the war, the Indian nations sided with the French, except the Iroquios, but became more passive and wanted more of the French and British to destroy each other and not destroy them. Because of the loss of battles at the beginning of the French and Indian War, Great Britain brought the colonies for the first time, strictly under British control. The overthrow of the Native Americans by the British came from wiping out a majority of their population by European diseases, enslaving them, dehumanizing them as savages, intruding into their land, depleting their resources, diminishing their uprisings, and turning them against one another. Colonization helped the British Empire, by the expansion of land due to farming and population, and population from the headright system, indentured servants, increased numbers of women, and African slaves. The economic power of the British empire led to the victory of the French and Indian War, which gave the Britain all of the French’s previously conquered land. The British denomination over North America, causes the language, culture, and society we have today in the United States. Perhaps, if more than one country dominated different parts of North America we would have different countries within the United States. Furthermore, America is very unique and everyone European nation that settled in America, has broke away from their homeland and became their own country.
