Explanations for Immigration and Crime Crime and Immigration has been a main talking point for the political agendas now especially in the election. Crime and Immigration has been a key point for President Elect Donald Trump with his policies he wants to put into place, and him wanting to build a wall to prevent the crossing of the border. But that alone won’t stop the illegal immigration, it may hinder it or just make it difficult but it won’t solve the issue of illegal immigration. Actually the Latino Paradox, shows that the first generation Latino/Hispanic Americans that immigrated have a longer life expectancy compared to White or African American citizens. They average about two years longer on their life expectancy than an American Citizen. This is led to believe by the fact that they lived a younger and healthier lifestyle before coming to America. Some explanations to this is that they had different birthing practices. They also have a slower biological aging rate than American citizens as well. Also another possible explanation to this is the forming of tightly knit communities that form strong social bonds that lead to no violence in the community. So with that in mind this refutes the idea that they are the leading cause of crime in the United States because they create social bonds with the communities that are often with other Hispanic or Latinos who came from Mexico or South America. The Latino Paradox explains this in which first generation immigrants born outside of the U.S were 45% less like to commit violence than the third generation American and the second generation immigrant were 22% less like to commit violence than the third
