Mandatory Maximum Jail Time for Convicted Rapist The basic right of humanity is consent, which is permission for something to happen, but an abundance of people’s consent have been violated in the state of Illinois. There is an uncertain amount of rapes recorded but research has shown about 27.7 per 100,000, meaning there is about 3,324 reported cases each year and those are only the reported accounts (Sutter). Many people do not report their case due to the lack of resources for their case and the belief that nothing will change even if they report their case. Many would not be afraid to speak out about the disturbing experience they faced. Large amounts of rape cases and convictions will come with the passing of the law, therefore it should come with a new institution for the holding of rapist to prevent even more overcrowding in other jails. This will help hold in rapist, other criminals,and jail will be supervised and controlled to prevent prison rape as well. This law will face issues like money, Illinois have wasted hundred of millions of taxpayers money,about $354 million wasted back in 2012 (VanMetre). Instead of them wasting that much money, it could go into funding a new prison and this will be beneficial as well, because more funding will stop going into wasteful stuff like Sparta World Shooting and Recreation Complex and more into protecting people from dangerous predators. This bill will benefit by helping people find justice and helping victims cope better with trauma that they have had to faced,. It will help many people speak out and will receive the help they deserve to
