Marshmallows have been around for many years. Marshmallows date back to as early as 2000 BC, but in the 1800s was when marshmallows were actually just starting out. They were first invented by the Egyptians, who made individual marshmallows by hand by extracting sap from a mallow plant and mixing it with nuts and honey. Then in the 1800s, candy makers in France took the sap from marshmallow plants and combined it with egg whites and sugar. The marshmallow was first invented to be used as a medicine that came from the root of a marshmallow plant to help with sore throats. It later was used as sweet candy that was once made from the sap of marshmallow plants. Ingredients in a marshmallow are sugar, water and gelatin whipped to a spongy consistency, molded into small cylindrical pieces, and coated with cornstarch. Also some marshmallow recipes call for eggs. As said before the marshmallow has been around for so many years and has evolved into what it is today. How it has evolved into what it is today is because at first marshmallows were only one single recipe and now marshmallows can be added to any other type of recipe to make a delicious dessert. …show more content…

Some desserts with marshmallows are “Peanut Butter Marshmallow Fudge Candy”, “Easy Peppermint Marshmallow”, and “S'mores”. Also there are “Rice Krispie treats”, “Marshmallow Strawberry”, “Fluffernutter Ice Cream Sandwiches”, “Banana Cream Pie with Toasted Marshmallow Fluff”, and “Blueberry Lemon Mousse Cake”. Also another dessert made from marshmallows is the “Cookies ‘N Cream Extreme Brownies”. Toasted marshmallows can be made over a fire, grilled, or even broiled in the oven. Toasted marshmallows are a pleasurable gooey treat that tastes like summer.Marshmallows that are toasted can be used for the center of the graham cracker or Hershey's chocolate to make the dessert
