Mass Incarceration Mass Incarceration of the black male in the United States have become a rising situation. Most people would say due to high population is why there are more blacks than whites in our prison system. Well some whites have experiences high population, so why aren’t there more whites in jail? In the 2000s it shows more blacks than whites are being put in prison. Statistics shows six percent whites who are in jail verse thirty-two percent blacks in jail. African Americans have little to no education while going to prison due to dropping out of school. So is the mass incarceration of black in the USA a human rights issue? Many would call it institutionalized slavery. By there being so many African Americans in prison some would look at it as though blacks are being taking back into slavery under the law. Although there are many ways people can be punished for committing a crime such as community service. Blacks are usually giving the hard road where prison incarceration is chosen. While on the other hand whites are given a slap on the wrist for the same crime. In the Human Rights act of 1993 is said to protect from discrimination. Mass incarceration of black males is a part of discrimination. Research says one third of the black male population will be put in jail. Drug Crimes are one of the main thing targeted around why one third blacks will be incarcerated. The systems main focus is “to get the bad guys off the street”. But, every bad guy isn’t a black male.
