Some people always want to know “Why does THAT interest you..?” They’re talking about why am I so interested in Psychological Behavior. It can be confusing to some people why I like what I do and I’ll tell you. It’s because I’ve had a history around me of psychological disorders. I find it very engrossing. Why do approximately 2.4 million people get schizophrenia? What IS schizophrenia and can it be treated? Mental illnesses causes America $193.2 billion in lost earnings each year. Scientist and Psychologist have found that schizophrenia might be linked to the way your mouth is shaped. The impact mental illnesses has on America is quite captivating. Mood disorders, such as depression are the third most common cause of hospitalization. Suicide is the 10th leading cause for death in the U.S., age ranges from 15 to 24 years old. More than 90% of those who die from that are likely to have a mental disorder. Mental disorders are more common than cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Society will tell someone with depression to just “get over it.” Would you tell someone with a broken leg to just “get up and walk?” People aren’t sensitive about these illnesses, and never really take it solemnly. BUT there is a positive side. More than ⅔ of Americans who do have a mental illness lead productive lives. It is assumed that people with mental disorders are more likely to be prone to violence, which is very untrue. People with mental illnesses are normally highly active and apart of the community, but is overlooked by rumors. It’s been said that these illnesses cause people to not be able to manage their “problems” but that is very untrue too. Employers report that their co-workers that have some sort of mental illness have good attendance, motivate others more and
