An important topic is being discussed and it concerns methadone treatment. Indeed, there are many opinions about this topic, and the effectiveness of methadone treatment. However, I believe that methadone treatment is very effective and should be utilized when treating addiction. “Methadone sold by the brand name Dolophine is a synthetic narcotic analgesic (Methadone, 2010). As compared with other drugs in its class, it has a longer duration of action (Methadone, 2010). This makes it useful for treatment of people with chronic pain, and for treatment of people addicted opioids (Methadone, 2010). Although methadone is, itself, addicting, it can be administered by mouth, with fewer doses per day, and so does not interfere with routine functions (Methadone, 2010).

Firstly, methadone is very effective in treating addiction. In today’s society, there is an opioid abuse epidemic. Addiction is not an easy disease to treat.
