Microaggressions matter in all classes of people whether they are men, women, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender), straight, black, white, Hispanic, or other. These small interactions seem insignificant until you affect someone’s self-esteem. Little by little, it chips away at that image in their mind of who and what they are as a person.
Although, many microaggressions are unintended, more often than not, they will have a negative effect on the receiving end. Young girls are high susceptible to depression, eating disorders, and even suicide as a result of many microaggressions as the go through physical, mental, and emotional changes during puberty. Girls or all race, and social class will undergo these changes and they will constantly wonder how they can adapt to the new changes. An example of these changes combined are girls in gym class: constantly comparing measurement and ways that they can reach them. They might be overly developed or underdeveloped and think of ways to increase their own development of “fake ‘til they make it.” If they get caught faking it, it leads to harassment from others among the student body …show more content…

Gossip spreads easily between teenagers and the results are usually dramatic and call for interventions by the parents and education administration if not legal authorities. Most will assume that what they are saying about the girl who falls into this pattern of behaviors will have no effect on her except embarrass her. Bullying is the main cause for teen suicide these days because they do not only having to deal with it in school, but at home now as well. Social media has made it easy for anyone to message anyone at any time and receive instant feedback, but it has been abused several times and ignored.
