The autobiography primarily taken place in Great Britain known as, The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African, Written by Himself authored by Olaudah Equiano. This narrative characterized as a slavery narrative, as he discloses his journey as an African American reconstructing from a life of slavery to freedom. Throughout history, most African Americans endure barbarous punishment from white masters. Equiano was deprived from his life and thrown into slavery, during this time it was a prevailing condition for many. He hastily discovered he must conduct everything the masters commanded of him to survive or for outcome of freedom. Although I may not have experienced a brand of life he has endured, I can identify to him in a manner. Olaudah Equiano did everything in his power to meet his master’s approval, although they were treating him gruesomely. He did this tactic knowing someday it would led him to freedom, therefore this treatment was worth it. Most days even though life isn’t always effortless we all maintain endurance until completion of our responsibilities, therefore knowing one day it will benefit on the path where we desire to be. Equiano and I, connect by standing up to our challenges to succeed. Although this is my way to relate to him some individuals may not, considering many people today infrequently experience slavery. Most individuals are knowledgeable about the history of slavery from autobiographies or other stories passed through the generations. My frustration with this piece would be I have never encountered a life similar, therefore it made it complex to relate.
