There have been many causes due to the United States of America and Mexico border disputes. These include its extensive history through sources such as the several past wars and the countless disputes between residents. With the strong issue of territorial claims that contradict each other, treaties have been seen as useless with an even more inadequate attempt of fence construction as seen in Image 1. With many bandits and thieves in this area, drug trafficking and illegal immigration is an impending dilemma.
Forces, during the early 20th century or possibly longer, have been metaphorically fighting tooth and nail just to bring the entire world under the reign of one single government. The belief or ideology that a single one world government should be in place is called globalism while the opposite ideology is referred to as isolationism or nationalism. In a speech given by former CEO of Caterpillar Inc., Jim Owens (2006), where he publicly showed his and the company’s appreciation for globalism “…we must believe that we can compete on the world stage. We must look at globalization and international competition as an opportunity to make ourselves stronger and more efficient—and not, as some are proposing, as a reason to turn inward and put up barriers
After the end of World War 1 in 1918, the US declared a policy of isolationism. Isolationism is a policy of non-involvement in other countries conflicts and politics and specifically for the US, non-involvement in European affairs. The US implemented this policy by denying the Treaty of Versailles in a vote of 39 to 55 in the Senate and consequently, did not join the League of Nations. This policy brought with it both positive and negative effects on the US. One positive effect is with isolation, the US can avoid the costs of dealing with conflicts in Europe and can avoid the negative effects on citizens.
Immigration bring great benefits. Without immigration, the population would stop growing, The goal is to keep it stable, not to get rid of all of it completely. Immigration keeps the population and also the economy growing. But when massive amounts of people are immigrating to America, it becomes overwhelming to some people. The government must slow down the process of immigration soon.
One of America’s most controversial issues today is the border between the United States and Mexico. The big part of the issue is due to illegal immigration, which is when foreigners enter the U.S. without an entry or an immigrant visa. President Trump says he has found a solution, otherwise known as the “border wall,” but this will not stop people from wanting a better life. Of course I get why he and others would want to continue the process obviously to keep us safe from terrorists and other dangers of the world, but, to every pro there is a con. Even though the fence along the U.S./Mexico border is already being built, it should not continue being built because it is expensive, hurts the environment, and immigration rates have significantly dropped.
According to the CDC, “Guns are responsible for over thirty-three thousand deaths in the United States annually. Gun Control is a set of laws that controls the use of guns by civilians. The Gun Control Act was signed as October 22, 1968 but was updated in 1993. As of February 23, 2018 seventy percent of people favor stricter gun laws and twenty-seven oppose of them. I believe that the Gun Control Laws should be stricter here around the United States because almost everyday something bad is happening by the use of a gun.
