Since many western countries have been composed of various races, racism was and is still one of the hottest issues to deal with there. The United States of America is one of the countries with many races. It was founded by Europeans. Africans were brought in as slaves. Asian population has increased after last century and Latin is the major minority these days. With racism, it is no doubt for this kind of nation to work properly. Overcoming racism has always been a major problem to solve. Civil Rights movement was one of the great examples. But, many people still believe that racism does exist and influence the daily life of people. Incidents based on racism can be heard quite often.

A number of people are killed by the law enforcement year by year. Police killed almost five black people per every million black residents of America, compared to about 2 per million for both white and Hispanic victims. That is why Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement occurred. It is against violence toward black people, mainly toward African American. BLM has organized protest around the deaths of black people by law enforcement officers. This movement began in 2013, after the acquittal of George Zimmerman from the shooting death of African American teenager, Trayvon Martin. It was not until two more deaths of two African American happened, Michael Brown, resulting in Ferguson unrest, and Eric Garner in New York City in 2014 that BLM organized its first street demonstration. But what people call racism has always occurred even in recent days. In addition, racism today is becoming too complicated to solve, compared to that of the past. During the Civil Rights movement, what racist did was easy enough to distinguish. For example, black people were not allowed to enter certain restaurants only because they are black people. But today, police officers can justify their killing as proper law enforcements. They can explain they also kill white, Asian or Hispanic if there is fierce resistance from criminals or suspects. The stronger opposition against racism gets, the subtler racism becomes. People can experience racism from unknown online, with another reason or by an unacceptable standard as mentioned above.
