Religion in America Religion has played a significant role in the history of America and in the United States. In the 1600s Europeans started to came to America to escape religious oppression such as forced beliefs, economical and land expansion .Even though there were many ways that religion impacted in America such as, changing Indians religion and oppressing those who did not want to convert. Some of the most important religions act or fundamental such as The Toleration Act of 1690, The Great Awakening, and Roger Williams. First of all, the Toleration Act was an event that succeed in the religion freedom, it was one of a series of measures that firmly established by the Glorious Revolution which was a political necessity that restored peace to a religiously pluralistic in England that was a conflict between the monarch and the parliament of the British (Give Me Liberty, 105,106). Through this act religion freedom revolutionized the colonies, the first colony that revolutionized was Rhode Island which passed a series of laws that prohibited religious persecution and give more tolerance or religion freedom. The Great Awakening was also a long term cause of the Glorious Revolution that resulted in the approval of the toleration act of 1690, ant that guaranteed more religion tolerance in the colony.
