War is very scary and when veterans come back from it they don't always come back the same way they had left. When in war they face many challenges in combat, but most people don't think about what life is like after the war. Often times they enter into the military with the excitement of supporting their country not thinking about where they will be sent or what they will be asked to do. Considering how their lives may look like after the military is not always a consideration. After returning from a military experience; especially in times of war, Veterans can suffer from PTSD, depression, emotional disorders, physical disorders, drug abuse, medical issues, unemployment, and homeless. Drug abuse is highly common with many veterans to numb the stress of warfare. And along with the past trauma, coming home can be just as bad dealing with all the stress and change. After coming home from war, veterans transitions are very rough and turn to bad things to cope especially if they have no support system. This creates anxiety and depression and the need for addiction, and these problems grow and increase due to the lack of help and empathy from society. Upon returning home, the transition from a foreign environment to “normal life” can be very challenging and hard to function as a member of american society. Socially, it can be hard for veterans to maintain successful personal and professional relationships as not only drug abuse affect this, but diminished problem solving skills and aggression can be an issue in all areas of their lives. All of their relationships with others change in one way or the other. Veterans who had no one to begin with cannot develop anymore relations with people or receive the support system needed to survive after war.
