In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo is the Tragic Hero. A tragic hero is the main character who suffers a downfall from good fortune because of his tragic flaw. According to an article on the Alabama Virtual Library, “ the tragic hero as a man of noble rank and nature whose misfortune is not brought about by villainy but by some “error of judgment” (academic.eb.com). A tragic flaw is the character defect that causes the downfall of the protagonist of a tragedy. Romeo’s tragic flaw is that he is immature. He thinks everything is the end of the world, it can be a little problem and he makes it seem like the world is falling apart. Romeo shows he is immature when he falls in love with Juliet, when he kills Tybalt and when his response to being banished. Romeo was banished so he did not know about the faking Juliet's death all he hears is the Capulet’s only daughter left has died. Romeo decides to go to Verona where Juliet is laid to see her. Before Romeo leaves he buys a poison and takes it with him. When Romeo arrives in Verona he finds Juliet dead and Romeo decides he is going to drink this poison so he will be with Juliet faster, but the audience knows that Juliet is just in a deep sleep and is about to wake up. When Juliet wakes up she finds Romeo dead, and Juliet decides she does not want to live without him. The stage directions state “(she stabs herself with ROMEO’s dagger and dies)” (ADD CITATION FROM BOOK). Romeo makes an immature decision to kill himself instead of thinking about what he could have done, and Romeo's decision leads to Juliet's decision to kill herself. This is an excellent way to prove that Romeo's immature decisions lead to the tragic downfall of them both, Romeo and Juliet,
