In terms of self and identity, the most experienced crises of elderlies are the need for higher self-respect, experience of self-pity, perception of lack of contribution to family and friends and feeling of dissatisfaction with one’s accomplishments in life. The need for higher self-respect is the most experienced crises of elderlies in terms of self and identity due to difficulty accepting the changes happening in later life and negative perception of their capabilities or qualities. The following are the steps that can be done to elderlies who have the need to gain better self-respect: Listen and allow the expression of thoughts and emotions of elderlies to facilitate comprehension of the situation. Trained officer or volunteer of the Senior Citizens Association with the assistance of social worker can provide a warm environment through the utilization of listening skills to make elderlies feel that they are being cared and accepted in a nonjudgmental manner.
