Abolition of Slavery American frontier

The abolition of slavery was like the last day of school. It was a tremendously difficult wait but it was worth it. When slavery did end the effect was monumental. Slavery Abolition changed America for the better because it caused the industrial revolution, got America closer to democracy, and gave slaves the opportunity to prosper, and the impact is still felt today. The abolition of slavery was a significant cause of the industrial revolution. Without slaves, there was a need to fill the void of labor. Without slaves to work on plantations people needed to evolve the process with technology. A primary example of this is the cotton gin which got rid of the need for slaves for cotton production. Without slaves for manual labor, people made factories that required less physical labor. Consequently, there were more people getting educated so technology was evolving fast. When slaves were given their freedom, some slaves decided to become inventors. In addition, when the civil war ended there was reduced fighting so more people could attribute their time to the improvement of …show more content…

The freeing of slaves gave slaves more freedom. Slaves could choose what job or career they desire. Slaves weren't forced to do something they loathe. In addition, it was also the first step towards full equality. “The Emancipation Proclamation was an early step toward African American equality, but there was still much work to be done.” (Gale 2021) It allowed for further civil rights laws to be assembled. It helped influence further civil rights leaders. All things considered, the abolition of slavery got America closer to democracy because slaves could get whatever career they want, slaves weren't forced to do something they hate, and it allowed for further civil rights laws to be made and influenced major civil rights
