The individual which I interviewed was Mrs. Hardin instructor of Swift training academy. The operational process from Swift trucking company is designed/structured around brokering loads, driver placement, and safety. The process of the planning comes from a structure of multiple departments within Swift. One thing Mrs. Hardin believes is there has been a signifigance of operations from previous years with constant change. In the current state of trucking, there are several sources of which plans are formulated by personnel from owner operator programs or company drivers. The load planners, driver managers, and safety teams work behind the scenes in order of planning a formula for the company as a whole. Often times, that could include pay, getting correct permits, and fixing solutions to driver problems. In most companies, there are a variety of department which help or form the whole process. there are a plethora of incenatives, which help create a competitive opportunity fro driver to capitalize on. There are bounses with being company drivers on owner operators for both divisons. Mrs. Hardin stays firm with a belief that Swift models itself as it slogan. “The best in class”. The driver package is one of the best for a large size corporation. Each month an incenative becomes available for drivers based on performance. The performance package adds per cent upon normal pay for several components attach to with its original pay. The downside of the industry is regulations from the Department of Transportation. There are always constant change, which guidelines/rules that are added to a drivers task. Mrs. Hardin beleieves that, when she was a driver over 18 years ago its been rather difficult to keep up with all the constant changes.
