The Civil Expository Movement
When were the first slaves brought to America? The first slaves were brought in 1619. The law that banned slavery was created in 1954, a common thing some say is that Rosa Parks started the civil rights movement but that is not true, and finally the civil rights act is one of the biggest acts in U.S history. The civil rights movement has changed many lives for these reasons.
The leading fact that in 1954 the law that all people are separate but equal was well long after the slavery and segregation was starting. It took the law 355 years to be established and during this time blacks were treated very poorly. The fourteenth and fifteenth amendments helped provide the help for establishing the law. The fourteenth amendment to the Constitution was ratified on July 9, 1868, and granted citizenship to all people born or naturalized in the United States, which included former slaves recently freed. The fifteenth amendment in summary is that blacks and anyone over the age of 18 that they can vote. Around the same time Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous, “I have a dream” speech. His famous speech was in Washington DC. In front of the Lincoln Memorial. His footprints are in the ground where he stood during the speech. The laws were …show more content…

The civil rights movement was started by Martin Luther King, Charles K. Steele, and Fred L. Shuttlesworth, these men are all black. Abraham Lincoln declared that “All slaves held shall henceforth be free.” He was the 16th president and was against slavery from the start. Charles K.Steele was a well-known preacher in Alabama who started boycotting the bus because two teenage boys were arrested for sitting in the white only section of the bus. This helped lead the rest of the blacks to start to engage in the bus boycott. Many people don’t have a clue of who is the starters of the civil rights
