Difference from 1950's to today There is quite a difference from the 1950's and today. Many changes have taken place in our country. These changes can be divided into 2 categories, the positive changes and the negative changes. Although there has been a lot of good, it isn't able to out way the mountain of bad. The difference at schools is a major problem in this country. In 1950 the schools taught children to try to make them more educated. Today schools teach children curricula that try to make them stupid and basically robots. In 1950, if the principle caught you carrying a gun in your car, he would go and show you his gun. But now, pointing your finger at another kid can get you thrown out of school. Schools have become more legalistic. If we are going to bring our country back, this is one problem that should be fixed first. America's people have changed too. Spending around a total of $40 billion. Today people are on welfare and spend about $700 billion. The amount of full time workers is 122 million people and the amount of part time workers is 27 million people. But this is still dwarfed by the 160 million people receiving government benefits. This was unheard of in the 1950's as the work force easily was bigger than those receiving benefits. People are far more lazy today and expect everything to be handed to them. But in the 1950's you had to work if you wanted to eat. People on government assistance actually needed it.
