My Reflection on my Research of the Prohibition While researching information on the Prohibition I was almost able to put myself in the shoes of someone living in the 1920s. The research I have done for the presentation has taught me things about the Prohibition I would have never learned otherwise. The project has given me much needed experience with researching topics and has improved my overall researching abilities because of this. In this essay I will be reflecting on the things I have learned and making predictions for the Prohibitions role in the book, “The Great Gatsby.” When researching on the Prohibition I learned how it affected people during the 1920s. I was able to learn about the consequences that took place after the 18th Amendment was passed; such as the abuse, crime, and dangers that it burdened Americans with. I think above all the information I was able to take away from this project, the most interesting and simple thing I learned was that the 18th Amendment only banned the transporting, distributing, and making of alcohol, but didn't actually ban the consumption of alcohol. The project really pushed me to have to use better time management in class. I am usually someone who likes to push the boundaries of deadlines but this project forced me to really make time for researching. I had a genuine interest in learning about the Prohibition so I really wanted to use as much time as possible learning everything there is to know about the Prohibition. Through the project I was able to learn that I actually find the history of America interesting. I usually lack interest in history class but being able to research for myself made it far more enjoyable than just sitting in a class taking notes on the subject.
