Poe demonstrates this by showing how Prince Prospero challenges the “Red Death” as a character. Prince Prospero faces a time when an intruder, the Red Death, gets inside like a thief at night. The Red Death goes through all the rooms and makes his final move at the black with red room. At the black and red room the Red Death disappears and instantly Prince Prospero dies. Poe disguises the “Red Death” utilizing personification by giving it human characteristics. Prince Prospero mind completely has a reversal. He realized that he was cheated by death and no matter how powerful you are, you cannot evade death. The room was he was lead to the black and red room, obviously dark.
