The Necessary Response of the Allies in WW2 The Allies were a group of brave countries that decided to take very necessary actions against the chancellor of Germany on September 3, 1939 (“Timeline of WWII”) after deciding that his ideas were crazy and inhumane. At different times of the war some countries left the Allies and some joined. In the beginning of WW2 it was France and Britain that declared war on Germany. The late entry of the U.S. in WW2 surprises a lot of people today but at the time it was the obvious choice for three important reasons: the US Congress voted neutrality laws to ban involvement of the US in foreign wars, Americans believed that the best course of action was to focus on our own problems (like the great depression) …show more content…

The beaches they invaded include: Juno, Gold, Sword (Britain and Canada),Omaha and Utah (America). There were 50.000 vehicles on the beach by night and they won using V1 and V2 rockets. (“D-Day: The Allies Invade Europe”) VE-day is the day that victory for the allies was declared in Europe. After two atomic bombs were dropped in different locations in Japan they surrendered on September 2, 1945; This is known as VJ-day. There are many reasons that the allies won, one of these being the fact that the US joined and gave money to its Allies: ”Britain received thirty-one billion dollars of aid, and the Soviet Union received eleven-billion dollars. This aid came in the form [of] aircraft, weapons, ammunition and medical supplies” (Zhukov). The Allies also won because of Germany's weaknesses including its horrible economic strength and poor leadership, for example Hitler lost hope in Germany and spent his last days in a bunker, and eventually committed suicide. The economic strength was poor because Germany was fighting Britain and the Soviet Union at the same time (Zhukov). In conclusion, the Allies were a group of brave countries that chose to stand against the chancellor of Germany and his horrible ideas about people different from him by taking the actions required to stop
