Sports, clubs, and afterschool activities all keep students busy during high school but it takes money to run these organizations and the money isn’t giving by adults so the question is where do they find the money to do these things? No, not everyone gets money from Mom and Dad. Most students have to work to pay for these activities. Some parents, teachers, and random adults question if high school students should have jobs on school nights but I say yes, they undoubtedly should. First, some people worry that students who are employed will struggle to find time for homework. The biggest reason I believe students should have jobs is because it’s a healthy way of earning money. Many high school kids are involved in a drug exchange. In my high school there are almost 30 kids that get arrested every school year just based on selling drugs. According to Eastcentral.edu, money management and budgeting are two key aspects in college (Eastcentral.edu). After getting a job at Regal Cinema, I knew what was actually important to me and what I could afford to buy as luxury, what I needed to buy for school, and other spending money. It wasn’t, “Mommy can I have that, that, and that” anymore. After researching more on the topic work.chron.com tells me that money management and budget learning is very important in college (work.chron.com). Knowing how to manage money is not just a valuable skill for college, it can be a skill used for the rest of life. Because I know how to manage my money better thanks to my job, I can prevent myself from being in debt, avoiding payments, and taking stupid loans in my future.
