Libraries are filled with different kind of books, and computers for all individuals to be able to use. Students use the computers for homework and to study and adults might use the computers to fill out online paperwork. Technology has become so advance in this generation you might think libraries will seize to exist one day, but Chicago has proven the opposite. Chicago public library is a strong example of what should be done for other states to follow for all libraries to succeed now and for many years to come. The public library in Chicago is a prime example that many states should follow for libraries to become stronger all around the United States. This library has brought many individuals together in many ways. It was a safe place where people went to read, use the computers, and hold meeting for different topics that are a concern in the community. It was also able to bring two different kinds of neighborhoods together. They built the public library between two different neighborhoods as a plan for the poor and the rich to unite which worked because it brought them together in a common space. …show more content…

I loved that they challenged their residents of Chicago to read the same book named, To Kill Mockingbird for “One Book, One Chicago” which ended up being a big success (Putman, Feldstein & Cohen, 2009). People from different walks of life reunited in the library to talk about the book they had just read. It didn’t matter if you were White, Black, Hispanic, poor, or rich because they were all there for the same reason which was the book. The community was brought together to talk about a common thing and were treated with respect and courtesy. They were able to meet and create friendships with people who attended regularly to these book
