Setting In the first 10 pages of the book the overall mood was upbeat and dramatic. The main female character (Carli) fainted into the main male character (Rex) at Rex’s basketball game. That’s where their relationship is born. It’s fitting to start on a basketball court. This is because many of the main conflicts surround basketball and it’s relevant in all the main characters' lives. Rex really likes basketball and thinks it's his passion. However, Carli has fallen out of love with basketball and slowly finds interest in other things. Essential Conflicts Some of Carli's conflicts are her internal conflict surrounding basketball. She despises basketball and has started to show no interest in it, but she is scared to tell her friends and family because she doesn’t want to disappoint them. She has also been struggling with her family's divorce and is conflicted about who to choose to live with. Lastly, she has being struggling with her sickness causing her to get nauseous and faint. This has been causing her a lot of stress on top of everything else she is struggling with. Rex has been struggling with the guilt of his mother dying and how it had affected him and his father's relationship, his father shows no attention to him, and Rex has started to think it's his fault. …show more content…
Carli finds out that the other team captain is her half-sister. When she finds this out, she gets thrown off her game and misses Rex’s basketball game, right after hers. This leads to them getting into a fight and breaking up
