There were multiple reasons for the start of the World War I, but the main cause for the ethical conflicts and the constant imperial rivalries that were going on in Central Europe. The war officially started in Europe when a citizen of Serbian assassinated the current Australian ruler, Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This won act of murder caused a domino effect on the European alliances one each other, with the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente acting first. This caused one nation after another to enter into a war consisting of the whole forefront of Europe. The war would go on for several years before the United States got forced into it. After the end of the war many people that had once spread anti-war propaganda were brought to trial and found guilty on the actions of promoting insubordination, disloyalty, and refusal of duty for their country. When the war was ending in Europe not one of the countries on either side ever stated what they were fighting for in the first place. After the war a group of Americans called the Inquiry started to draft a peace plan for all the nations that were involved in WWI. Wilson would then develop something called the Fourteen Points, with the help of the Inquiry, which he presented on January 8th 1918. The first five points called for diplomacy to be conducted openly rather than hidden in secret treaties among nations, and to recognize the neutral nations and their shipping rights during any future times of war. Some other points also called for the removal of international trade barriers, reduction of armaments, and a reconfiguration of the victors colonial empires based on the desires of all the populations involved. The rest of the points dealt with claims for territory among the Central Powers and Allied Powers.
