The Lottery Ethical Dilemma People are at times faced with a circumstance where there are difficult choices, and they tend to test one's integrity and lead to an ethical dilemma. An ethical dilemma involves being in a complex situation where an individual is presented with two choices and must choose one despite both being completely satisfactory (Hegde). One of the outstanding ethical dilemmas inspired by the class discussion during the semester is a story named in the article "The Lottery." The text presents a story where people in a certain village gather for a lottery. For the community to get the lottery, they have to sacrifice their resources. In one of the circumstances, people are willing to sacrifice one of the village resources for the sake of the community. The ethical dilemma is whether or not it is justifiable to sacrifice some resources so that the community can benefit. The choices are very convincing because they seem to benefit the person making them, but they are also difficult to make. The difficulty arises from the ethical and moral considerations one should make before settling on one decision and letting off the other. One of the ethical dilemmas experienced was in a lottery story where the community was presented with two difficult choices. The community was supposed to participate in a lottery and leap fortunes from it, but it came with the price of sacrificing an individual for their benefit. I strongly believe that an individual should not be sacrificed for the benefit of the community. The belief has been opposed by counterarguments such as the greater good and precedent arguments.
