Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the ability of the computer to do things that people normally do. It is also an academic field which studies how to create computers that are capable of intelligence behavior. There are three different ways to develop a computer with artificial intelligence. The first method is to build systems that think exactly like people (Hammond, 2015). This is called a ‘strong AI’. The second method is getting the system to work. In other words, they have built a system that can behave like humans, but it can’t think like humans. That is called a ‘weak AI’. The third method is systems that are informed or inspired by human reasoning. There are also two different types of AI’s: narrow AI and general AI. Narrow AI’s are systems …show more content…
In the article, “Top 9 ethical issues in artificial intelligence”, the writer mentioned that in 2015, a bot name Eugene Goostman won the Touring challenge for the first time by fooling people into believing that he was a real person. Recently, the first robot was given citizenship in Saudi Arabia and she looks like an actual woman. Another problem with AI technology is stupidity. You can teach or program a machine to recognize certain patterns or behaviors, but it could mess up. In the world of mass shootings and high crime rates, if you want to use an AI machine for security, then you have to make sure that it is properly trained. Along with stupidity, there is also racial bias. Although AI technology can be smarter and more advanced than humans, it can still make the same mistakes. For example, there was a software used to predict future criminals in the USA, but it was biased against black people. Basically, if a white person and black person both committed theft, the machine would predict that the black American would most likely commit the crime again or commit a worse …show more content…
The risk is in the decisions that these smart machines make which also causes social implications. In a driverless car, everything can go smoothly but at some point, the car is going to make an unethical decision which can cause passengers their lives. There are a lot of ethical risks that come with Artificial Intelligence but most of them could be prevented. Some issues are related and could follow one or the other such as evil genies and singularity or inequality and robot rights. Although there are risks, they can be prevented and/or fixed through the top-down process or bottom-up process. Artificial Intelligence is currently being used through your smartphones, in your houses, in your laptops and computers. In the future, they will be used for crime prevention, and other important things. Artificial Intelligence is also used for security which can help reduce crime rate and terrorist
