North Americans and Western Africans, although living in vastly different areas, share many cultural similarities with each other. In both areas, the people had similar views on trading, land, religion and the social constructs of their societies. The Western Africans, for centuries, used trade to be able to connect with the rest of the world. The trading network throughout Africa went all throughout the continent and allowed West Africans to deliver goods to the North African hubs and ports, as well as eventually going to Europe and Asia. The Native Americans had a similar trade network.

There is a stark contrast between the rural Jamaican and the American perception of the ideal body in society. Jamaicans highly favor fat bodies, while Americans prefer the lean, lithe look. The major extreme comes when comparing women in both cultures. Jamaicans encourage young girls to eat and become fat and portray that as the most desirable. On the hand, in America, young girls are the most at risk for developing eating disorders.
Europe, Africa, and the Americas each had intelligent societies developed in them. However, geography of the territories they lived in contributed to the development of these civilizations. Civilizations that lived close to each other often influenced or inspired each other. Moreover, civilizations often took from their predecessors. A key example of this is when the Aztecs destroyed and took over the Toltec Native American’s land.

Success, a word we hear everyday and live our lives to achieve, but what does it mean to you? Throughout this school year, while exploring success I have learned what success means to me. While your stand may not be acceptable to others, success is when you have found happiness in your position in life, because you know you have given it your all , and have become a person you are happy being. People have a habit of basing their success off of the expectations of others.
“ETHIOPIANS THE FIRST CHOSEN PEOPLE” After the creation, the Ethiopians became the first chosen people of God before Abraham and his offspring were chosen. The Lord compared the children of Israel with the Ethiopians “Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? Said the Lord. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt?”(Amos 9:7). In these scripture verses, God compared the children of Israel with the children of the Ethiopians having the same equality.
Each and everyone has our own idea of how success looks like. But for me, success is something that you’ve worked so hard to get to that you now have pride to have or be. But success isn’t so easy to reach. There's going to be challenges and times where one thinks they won't succeed. Its when you’ve flourished to the point where you’re happy with the placement of your life.
The DRC is touches the Central African Republic, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Angola. Because the DRC is surrounded by over five countries it is a prime target of emigration. Emigration is not bad, but the DRC is filled with different ethnics and cultural influences. For, instance, since culture is learned a lot of different influences go into the DRC culture. For example, the Rwanda genocide in the late 1990s thousands of thousands of individuals from the Hutu tribe fled to the DRC bringing the language of Rwanda-Rundi; as a result of the genocide Rwanda-Rundi is “the 5th most common language in the [DRC]” (“Where on earth do they”, n.d.).
In our world, people usually associate success with either money, money, or money. Success shouldn’t be about how much money we earn, how good our job is, or how famous we are. It should be about our own personal goals and aims in life. I think everyone’s definition of success is different. For each individual, success is something that makes them feel proud.
Success is found in all goals that are accomplished no matter how small or large that they are. Being successful doesn 't always mean that one must accomplish goals that are hard. To others it could be marrying the person they love. To be happy with that person for the rest of their life is a big success. Being successful at an educational standpoint would be graduating college with a degree in a future career.

How do you define Success!! My English teacher asked me “How do you define success”? Success means different things to different people. To me success is having good grades and a good amount of money, achieving your goals, and happiness.
What does success mean to me? It means accomplishing things in life and reaching your goals. Everyone has a different view of what success actually is. Success also means setting a goal and reaching it in a time frame you set for yourself. For example I believe finishing college and gaining a career in a field you love is being successful because it is a goal that can be achieved.
