Ethos in The Odyssey – Feature in Hero
Odyssey, the King of Ithaca, sails with his soldiers to venture in the mighty Achaean expedition. The troops follow the Agamemnon to fight against the city of Troy aiming at restoring Helen to Menelaus. After a decade of warfare, the city is fragmented, and the Achaean heroes return home. In the beginning of the story of Odyssey, it is at the time when an additional decade has passed when Troy collapse and Odysseus has not returned home yet.

He re-establishes himself as the ruler of Ithaca and the story ends with the reunion of his family. It is because Gods set up scenarios for Odysseus out of their purposes. However, it is undeniable that Gods were civilised, and they measure the qualities of Odysseus with supreme standards. And the most significant thing that is demonstrated in Odysseus is his loyalty to his homeland and family. He has a strong motivation to return home because he feels he has the responsibility to restore the stability of his homeland. Odysseus’s patience was tested, and his bravery grows. Indeed, his privilege to the entitlement of king develops as he encounters more
