In Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, disloyalty, manipulation, and persuasion all reign supreme. The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is a historical play and tragedy by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar is believed to have been written in 1599. Being one of several plays written by Shakespeare it is based on true events from Roman history, which also include Coriolanus and Antony and Cleopatra. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar in Antony’s speech he uses ethos, logos, pathos. Ethos, logos and pathos are modes of persuasion used to convince audiences. Ethos is used to describe the guiding beliefs of people. Antony use ethos when he says, “He was my friend, faithful and just to me.” Here Antony is building Caesar up showing that he was a good friend to him, by that Antony shows Caesars loyalty. Another quote from Antony’s famous funeral speech is “I thrice presented him him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse:was this ambition? Yet Brutus says he was ambitious.” In this quote Antony is trying to prove to the citizens of Rome that Caesar was a good man and he was not ambitious. …show more content…

A second example of logos in Antony’s speech is “For Brutus as you know, was Caesar's angel: Judge, O you gods, how dearly Caesar loved him!
