1. Education is vital to our society today. Education is what leads to new discoveries and experiences that a person will encounter during their lifetime. It can help people in our society because, people will find out what they love, what interest them and what they want to do for the rest of their lives. My family didn’t go to college, everyone went straight to work when they got out of high school. I see them struggle with finding jobs and providing for their family. I will be the first person to go to college to obtain my degree and achieve my goal of becoming a nurse. This book is meaningful to me because it teaches and shows the audience many lessons to learn. For example, the book shows that paying attention and listening for details is important, because people who truly listen and are observant pick up on clues and details that sets people apart from others. Another lesson was be self-aware. “The real battle is won in the mind. It’s won by guys who understand their areas of weakness, who sit and think about it, plotting and planning to improve. Attending to the detail. Work on their weaknesses and overcome them. Because they can.” Also, teamwork is essential. The Navy SEAL training is very strict about the concept of teamwork. They had a clear mission of taking out an enemy, and they worked together and never gave up, to complete the mission even if it meant sacrificing oneself and getting killed. Marcus, the author, says, “I will never quit. My nation expects me to be physically harder and mentally stronger than my enemies. If knocked down I will get back up, every time. I will draw on every remaining ounce of strength to protect against the enemy and to accomplish the mission.
