I have to say I love my job… and that job is to review books. However, this task can become difficult because sometimes I do not want to read books that are boring and do not grasp my attention. But a job is a job and I am required to review all types of books. Fortunately enough, the book I was asked to review was pretty interesting. The book titled “Every Last Word” by Tamara Ireland Stone took me into the world of a teenage girl who suffered from Purely Obsessional Compulsive Disorder (POCD). One does not know what it is like to have OCD… your mind forces you to overthink things, to over do things and it can drive someone crazy.

“Every Last Word” is about a girl named Samantha McAllister, she looked like any other high schooler. She had popular friends known as “The Eights.” Samantha struggled to be like them, popular… pretty… smart but in reality she was NOTHING like them. No one realized is that she had to see a psychiatrist weekly because was consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that never stopped. Her life was a real struggle. It doesn't help that her lifelong friends judged everything from outfits, to what they ate for lunch, even to their crushes. Samantha knew if she left “The Eights” she would be considered utterly stupid, crazy and an outcast. To leave them would also mean she would lose their protection and would not be part of the most popular girls in school. However, being their friends was becoming very difficult. …show more content…

Caroline tells her “I’m going to show you something that will change your whole life” and it did. However, Samantha has to keep her new friend a secret from her other friends. She knew Caroline was different from her diva friends, the minute she called her “Sam” instead of Samantha. After being her friend she realized that she was a natural beauty and no longer wanted to cover up her blemishes, have the perfect hair, and the glossy lip, she could just be herself…
