The biggest question about Caroline’s death after reading the book is “WHY??????”. Well, first of all, let me tell you a little background on this. So in the book, Sam is in her second year of high school and becomes friends with Caroline. Then Sam finds out Caroline died eight years ago and has been making her up the whole time. So now everyone is wondering how come she killed herself? Didn’t she love Poets Corner? I thought all those people from Poets Corner where her friends? The first reason is, I think her home life was really bad and her family didn’t like her so she never felt normal. Her parents may have died or were in jail so she was living alone which caused her to feel unloved. In the book when Sam and Caroline where friends Caroline never wanted to go to her house and never wanted Sam to meet her parents. Also, how Sam described it, her clothes didn’t seem that high quality like most teen girls, more like dollar store shirts that she had to pay for herself. Caroline was never very enthusiastic and Sam never saw Caroline with anybody else. She also never got around by car instead she got around with a bike, or by foot. In the book AJ one of the members in Poet’s Corner never mentioned Caroline nor did any other member of Poet’s Corner. It also says in the book that when she was alive she always sat in the janitors closet and ate by herself. This evidence shows that she never had any friends and that may have led to depression, which may have caused this incident to happen. It also shows that she was never willing to make friends instead just hang out with the janitor and lurk in the shadows. In conclusion, I think one of the reasons Caroline may have committed suicide is because she never had any friends besides the janitor and that made her feel worthless
