The goverment plays a significant role on how humans live and what they respect. So when the government is corrupt human nature also turns evil. The boys realized that there would need to be a leader, which they elected Ralph because he was focused on escaping the island but yet stayed calm and made the boys feel safe which is something they were used to before getting on the island. As more time went on without set rules and punishments the boys true evil nature was revealed. The savagrey was revealed through their action like killing the pig,”Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood” (Golding 72). The happines they once had was completely gone and they were slowly turning insane. Without the rules they were used to they were able to act on their inhibitions. They lost hope for escaping the island so they turned to violence and this led thier crumbling civilization straight into failure. They soon become unrecognizable to themselve and eachother, ”What are we? Humans? Or animals” Or savages”(Golding 91). Even Ralph, who once was calm had now lost all sanity and became delusional. The pigs in the novel are used to sympolize selfish leaders who act like pigs. The pigs are in the highest socail class at the farm so they believe they deserve the most power even though they do least amount of work. With this little bit of power they already have they are able to convince the other animals to take over the farm. They do this with manipulation and propaganda. They repeatedly tell animals,”Four legs good, two legs bad”(Orwell 27). They bait the animals in with the idea of freedom when really the pigs are greedy and want more power for themselves. As they progress in power and dominate the farm, the evil grows but not only in the pigs it is also present in other animals too. Animals begin to turn against each other because they only care about themselves they are influenced by their corrupt leaders selfish behavior. They listen to the pigs saying that,”All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than other”(Orwell 134). The other animals are now also hungry for power. This shows how easily people can be influenced with power. The evil nature in humans can be revealed when they want something for themselves.
